The quilt watched E.R. for seven straight days. George Clooney was getting very personable with a curly-haired nurse's feminine mystique. After three days of E.R. reruns I went to stay at my grandparents. Me and my grandfather ate hardboiled eggs and oatmeal in the morning. One morning I asked why my mother turned into a quilt. He ignored the question and asked my grandmother if the rash on his forearm was poison ivy.
